Located on the coast near Alghero in northern Sardinia, Neptune's Cave can only be visited if the weather conditions are favourable. Indeed, there are two different options to access it. The easiest is to take the ferry from Alghero (there are frequent departures) so you will have the opportunity to admire the coastline of cliffs and intriguing inlets. The most difficult is to walk the 654 steps up the cliffside.
The cave contains many interesting sights, such as the Lamarmora Salt Lake, or the striking Organ Player. It is a rock that resembles a human face and organ pipes (so-called pareidolia). The cave was the set of an Italian cult film, 'L'isola degli uomini di pesce', with an atmosphere reminiscent of Jules Verne's novels.
