Genna Salixi Domus de Janas

In Sant'Antonio near Oristano there is Genna Salixi, one of the largest Domus de Janas on the island. Literally 'house of fairies' in Sardinian, it is a Nuragic necropolis, excavated entirely in the rock. The surrounding landscape perfectly matches the etymology of the name, which evokes a remote world inhabited by myths and mystery.

In a treeless meadow, there are 14 dark holes leading to underground chambers connected by corridors. The caves are also maintained by drainage channels for rainwater. Although all the former carvings have been eroded, cave number 10th houses niches used for offerings to the dead.
